The E22 error code on a Candy tumble dryer indicates a problem with the printed circuit board and the drying cycle can no longer continue.

Try resetting the dryer
A quick fix for the E22 fault code is to reset your tumble dryer. This is because it’s related to a control board error which can sometimes just mean that it needs to be reset.
Here is how you can reset your Candy dryer:
- Turn the control knob to the off position – This should be the 12 o’clock position at the top of the dial
- Unplug the dryer from the electrical supply and wait for around 5 minutes – This should give the capacitors on the control board enough time to discharge the power
- Reconnect the machine and then try a short drying cycle – If the cycle gets to the end, then it’s a good sign that the fault has been fixed and won’t come back again
If you continue to receive the E22 error code, then it’s probably an electrical problem and the circuit board might need to be replaced.
Inspect the control board
The first thing that you should inspect is the control board. It’s usually located at the front of the machine behind the controls of the front.
To get a better view of the circuit board you can usually remove the panel by removing the lid and then unscrewing the two screws on either side that hold it in place.
Once you have a good view of the circuit board you can look for any signs of damage such as burn marks or electrical short marks.
When a control board fails sometimes it will blow and leave some evidence of burning. This is usually black smoke marks that can’t be rubbed off with your finger.
It’s also a good idea to look out for any signs of water damage. If the control board looks like it has gotten wet, then it will likely need to be replaced.
Make sure the cables are properly connected
While you’re inspecting the control board it’s a good idea to make sure that all the cables are properly plugged into the control board and that they haven’t come loose.
If they are all connected you should follow them down to the parts that they give power to and make sure that they are connected.
If you find any wires that seem to be damaged, then there is a good chance that they are causing the E22 fault code.
You can often repair damaged wires and connector blocks by sourcing a wiring loom for the model number of your dryer and swapping them out,
It’s also possible to repair broken wiring by cutting and reconnecting the wires so you remove the damaged part of the cable.
