Hisense Washing Machine Error Codes

Read through our complete Hisense washing machine error code list. See what each of the Hisense washing machine error codes means and what you can do to fix them.

Hisense also manufactures Gorenje products, so you may see some similarities between this list and our Gorenje washing machine error codes breakdown.

Hisense washing machine error codes

E00 Hisense washing machine error code (incorrect setting)

The machine has detected that the dial is turned onto the incorrect setting.

This error code is usually caused by the control knob being positioned in between two cycles. To fix this code, turn the machine off and correctly set the cycle.

If this error code is displayed on the machine and the control knob is correctly positioned, it means that the control board is faulty and will need to be replaced.

E01 Hisense washing machine error code (temperature sensor)

The machine has detected that the water is too cold. During the cycle, the heating element will attempt to raise the temperature of the water inside the drum to meet the requirements of the cycle.

What to check:

  • Try replacing the NTC
  • Check the heating element for an open circuit
  • Replace the heating element
  • Look for faulty wiring from the control module to the heating element

If the above checks don’t resolve the error code, try replacing the printed circuit board (PCB).

E02 Hisense washing machine error code (door lock)

The machine can’t lock the door at the beginning of the cycle. If the door cant lock when the start button is pressed, the cycle will not continue for safety reasons.

What you should check:

  • Check that the door is closed properly
  • Look for broken or burnt wiring near the door interlock
  • Try replacing the door lock
  • Look for burn marks on the control module

The most likely cause of the E02 error code is a broken door interlock. The door interlock is an easy part to replace on a washing machine and can be accessed by removing the door seal.

E03 Hisense washing machine error code (water filling)

The water level in the machine is not high enough. If the machine fails to fill with water within 5 minutes of the cycle starting, the cycle will end and the E03 fault code will display on the LCD.

What you should do:

  • Check that the water supply tap is turned on
  • Make sure there are no bends or kinks in the fill pipe
  • Try cleaning the water solenoid valve
  • Replace the water inlet valve

If the machine has just been installed, it’s really common for the installer to forget to turn the water supply tap on. This is a quick fix and the water tap is usually located very close to the washing machine.

E04 + E05 Hisense washing machine error code (motor)

The machine has detected a fault with the drive motor. Both the E04 and E05 error code will usually display shortly after the machine fails to spin.

Common reasons for the error codes:

  • The carbon brushes are low
  • The tachometer is faulty
  • The motor windings have broken down
  • The control module is faulty

The first thing to check with this error is the carbon brushes which are located on the motor. This is something that can be visually inspected and a good sign that the carbon brushes need replacing is that they are really low in length. You can compare the length to a new set of brushes.

E06 Hisense washing machine error code (water heating)

The machine has detected that the water inside the drum has not been heated up. This error code usually presents itself after the clothes have not been coming out of the wash as clean as usual.

The most common reason for the E06 fault code is a broken heating element. The heating element is located at the back of the machine inside the drum.

The heating element should be replaced and then the machine should be run on a test cycle.

Other reasons for the E06 error code:

  • The NTC
  • The wash element
  • The wiring leading from the PCB to the heater
  • The control boar

E07 Hisense washing machine error code (water draining)

The machine has not drained the water away from the drum. This error code will display on the machine if the machine fails to drain the water away in around 4 – 5 minutes.

What to do to clear the E07 error code:

  • Check the drain pump filter for blockages
  • Check the water waste pipe for obstructions
  • Remove any blockages from the sump pipe

If the machine has no visible blockages then the drain pump will most likely need to be replaced. The drain pump can become damaged or wear down over time due to small obstructions that damage the impeller.

E09 Hisense washing machine error code (leak detected)

The Total Aqua Stop system has detected a leak in the base of the machine. If the machine detects any water build-up in the base of the machine, the cycle will stop and the E09 error will display on the LCD.

Finding the source of a leak can be difficult, but inspecting the machine while a cycle is running is the easiest way to spot where a leak is coming from.

Some common areas a washing machine will leak:

  • From the soap drawer
  • The door seal
  • The drain pump
  • A hole in the drum
  • A hole in any of the pipes

If your deal seal is looking worn and has mould buildup, the seal can expand and will drop from the bottom of the seal into the machine. If you’re looking for some tips on how to prevent this, you can check our guide on how to clean your washing machine door seal.

Before checking for any leaks, you should remove any water from the base so that the Aqua stop doesn’t trigger on the next cycle. If there is no water in the machine, the float switch will likely need to be replaced.

E10 Hisense washing machine error code (water level)

The machine has detected the water level in the drum is wrong. This fault code will display if the water level is either too low or too high.

What you should check:

  • Try replacing the pressure switch
  • Make sure the water inlet valve is not constantly allowing water in
  • Check the pressure switch pipe for holes
  • Inspect the control module for obvious signs of burning

Sometimes this error code is a false positive and turning the machine off for around 10 minutes and reattempting the cycle will clear the error code.

E11 Hisense washing machine error code (water overflow)

The machine has detected the water level is too high inside the drum. This error code is similar to the E10 error code and the faults that cause it can be similar.

You should check that the water inlet valve is stopping the water from coming in when the water level has been reached inside the drum

If the solenoid valve is not faulty and the machine is still overfilling, it’s possible that the pressure switch pipe has come away and needs to be reattached.

E12 Hisense washing machine error code (motor control)

The machine is struggling to control the speed of the motor during the cycle. The motor speed is controlled by both the printed circuit board and the tachometer.

To rectify this fault, you should first try to replace the motor. On some motors, it’s possible to replace the tachometer although this is rare and the full motor will usually need to be replaced.

If the motor is not at fault, the control module will need to be replaced.

E22 Hisense washing machine error code (door not locked)

The door has not locked before the cycle has begun. This error code is similar to the E02 error code.

What you should do:

  • Replace the door interlock
  • Check the wiring between the control board and the door lock
  • Inspect the wiring block at the door lock
  • Make sure the door is closed properly

If the above checks do not resolve the fault, the error code is likely to be caused by the control board. If the control board does not send power down to the door lock, the door will not engage before the cycle starts.

E23 Hisense washing machine error code (door not unlocked)

The door has not unlocked at the end of a wash cycle. This error code will be displayed on the machine while the door will not open after the cycle.

To fix this error code, you will first need to find a way to open the door. A quick way to open a stuck door is to turn the machine off and isolate it from the power, which usually disengages the door.

If the door handle is broken, the lever will not pull the catch away from the door. This means that you will have to find another way to open the door. Using a piece of string to slip behind the door and I’ll the door catch can be a good way to solve this problem.

Once the door is open, the door interlock should be replaced with a new one, which should rectify this faulty. If the door lock is not at fault, the control module will need to be replaced.

The door interlock is an economical repair and should be attempted before considering replacing the washing machine.

E36 + E37 Hisense washing machine error code (electronic communications)

The machine has detected an electronic communication error. This fault will usually be fixed by removing the machine from the power supply for 5 – 10 minutes.

If removing the machine from the power and then reattempting a cycle does not remove the E36 or E37 error code, then the fault will most likely be caused by a defective control module.

Sometimes, if the wiring on the control board comes loose or has burned away, the machine can flag this as a communication error. Inspecting the control board before replacing it is a good idea.
