Find out what your Gorenje washing machine error code means and the possible fault that it could indicate. The list below includes every fault code that you will find on a Gorenje washing machine with a digital display.
Gorenje washing machines are manufactured by Hisense and the error code definitions below will have some similarities with the Hisense washing machine error codes.
F1 Gorenje washing machine error code (temperature sensor)
The water heating temperature sensor is faulty. The washing machine has detected a problem with the sensor that regulates the water temperature during the cycle.
What you should check:
- Check the wiring leading to the temperature sensor
- Try replacing the temperature sensor
- Check all of the wires to the control module
- Try replacing the heating element
Sometimes, this fault code is caused by the control module misreading the temperature sensor. A good check for this is to interrupt the cycle and check if the water is being heated up. If the water is being heated then the fault is most likely with the control board.
F2 Gorenje washing machine error code (door lock)
The washing machine has detected a problem with the door interlock. The door lock has either failed to lock the door before the cycle or has failed to unlock after the cycle.
This error code is usually fixed by replacing the door lock, which is usually easy to do.
If the door lock is not the source of the fault code, the problem could be the wiring leading from the lock to the control boar or a faulty control module.
Sometimes it’s possible to source the fault by visually inspecting the door lock, which is located behind the door seal on the right of the machine. The connection block leading to the door lock will often be clearly burnt if the problem is with the electrical block.
Gorenje washing machine door locks are very economical and quite easy to obtain, so it’s worth trying to replace the lock before replacing the machine.
The door lock can be replaced by removing the poor seal and unscrewing the lock from the front of the machine. After unscrewing the lock, you can swap the connector block over and refit.
F3 Gorenje washing machine error code (water intake)
The machine has detected that not enough water has entered the machine before the cycle. If the machine does not fill the drum with water within 5 minutes, the cycle will stop and the error code will display on the machine.
What you should do:
- Check the water fill tap is in the on position
- Check the water intake valves for blockages
- Make sure the fill pipes are not kicked or bent
- Check the soap drawer for blockages
- Make sure the water supply is available on the property
If the machine has recently been installed, the plumbing will be the most likely reason for the lack of water. Sometimes when a washing machine is being installed, the water fill pipe can get trapped or kinked behind the machine.
F4 Gorenje washing machine error code (motor inverter)
The inverter control board has become faulty. The machine has detected that the control board that is responsible for controlling the speed of the motor has become faulty.
The first thing to check is the wiring between the motor and the inverter card. Sometimes the wiring can become disconnected or the wiring block can become burned.
Other things to check:
- Check the wiring from the inverter card to the control module
- Check the control module for burn marks
- Make sure that the motor is not faulty
If the above checks seem to be good then the inverter card will need to be replaced. Replacing the card is fairly straightforward and they are usually economical.
F5 Gorenje washing machine error code (control module)
The machine has detected that the main control module can not communicate with the motor speed control board.
The motor speed control board is responsible for making sure the speed of the motor is correct at different points in the cycle. The most common reason for the F5 Gorenje washing machine fault code is the wiring between the main control module and the motor speed control board.
You should visually inspect the wiring and looks for breaks and signs of burning. If all of the wires seem to be in good condition, the motor speed control board will most likely need to be replaced.
F6 Gorenje washing machine error code (heating element)
The heating element has failed on the machine. The F6 Gorenje error code means that the wash heater is no longer able to heat the water during the cycle.
The heating element is found at the bottom rear of the drum and can be found behind the rear access panel. The wash heater is responsible for making sure the temperature is correct during the wash cycle and can sometimes break.
To clear the F6 fault code, the wash heater will need to be replaced. It might be a good idea to replace the NTC which is fitted to the heater to be sure that the fault is corrected.
If the error code is not caused by the wash heater then it is most likely due to some faulty wiring or a problem with the printed circuit board (PCB).
F7 Gorenje washing machine error code (water not drained)
The machine detected that the water has not drained. Gorenje washing machines will allow around 2 – 3 minutes before giving up the drain cycle.
What you should do if your Gorenje washing machine is not draining:
- Check the drain pump filter for blockages
- Check for obstructions in the waste pipe
- Inspect the sump pipe for blockages
- Make sure the drain pipe is not twisted or kinked
The most common place to find a blockage in a washing machine is the drain pump filter. Most filters are located at the bottom right of the machine behind a plastic cover. Items such as coins and socks often block the drain pump from draining the water away.
If your machine does not have a blockage, the drain pump will most likely need to be replaced. Gorenje washing machines usually have drain pumps that are economical to replace.
F8 Gorenje washing machine error code (motor fault)
The machine has detected that the motor has failed. This fault code does not give a specific problem with the motor, just that it is failing to meet the requirements of the cycle.
Common reasons for the F8 error code:
- The carbon brushes are low and need to be replaced
- The tachometer has failed and needs to be replaced
- The wiring to the motor has come away or is damaged
- The control module is faulty
- The motor inverter needs to be replaced
The most common reason for a motor to fail on a washing machine is the carbon brushes. The carbon brushes are located on either side of the drive motor and over time wear down. You will need to remove the motor and replace the carbon brushes which is fairly straightforward.
It might be a good idea to visually inspect the carbon brushes before replacing them so that you can see if they have worn down.
F9 Gorenje washing machine error code (Aquastop)
The F9 error code indicates that there is a leak somewhere in the machine. This fault code is exclusive to machines that have the Aquastop function.
To rectify this error code you will need to find the source of the leak. Common places where washing machines leak:
- The door seal
- The drain pump
- A whole in the drum
- Water inlet solenoid valve
- Soap drawer
To find a leak in a washing machine, sometimes it can be best to run a cycle and visually inspect the machine. If your machine has an access panel at the bottom of the machine then it can be helpful to remove it so you can see inside.
Over time, the door seal on the machine can become dirty, and worn and can create small leaks from the door. The seal will need to be replaced if this is the case and if you need more information on how to keep on top of cleaning your washing your door seal, you can take a look at our guide.
